The first phase of the Regenerative Architecture and Extended Reality training program concluded in December 2023, with the cohort working on architectural prototype projects addressing housing, learning-space, and building-material challenges specific to the Sahelian bio-region.

Prior to the bamboo workshops, learners experimented with ancestral and contemporary earthen architectural techniques including adobe bricks, adobe walls, rammed earth walls, and natural earth based plasters.

Three bamboo experimentation and construction workshops took place during December 2023 as part of the training program.

Zivai Mamutse, an Architect and Computational Designer from Zimbabwe based in South Africa, presented an architecture thesis on endogenous African knowledge systems and their potential for rethinking social housing in Africa.
